Opportunities From: Food Bank of Western Massachusetts

The Volunteer Check-In Assistant is the go-to person near the pavilion. They will work with the Volunteer Coordinator to check in volunteers, distribute necessary supplies, and direct them to their assigned areas. Additionally, they will cheer on the cyclists to keep the energy high and the atmosphere positive & may help assist in the Merchandise Tent or Registration Tent as needed. 

Cyclist Volunteer gets to participate in Will Bike 4 Food for free! This rider is the very last of the 100 mile cyclists, the "caboose", to ensure all cyclists make it back safely. This volunteer will be in communication with Volunteer Coordinator if any issues arise. 

Please be comfortable with biking for 100 miles.  Thank you!

Cyclist Volunteer gets to participate in Will Bike 4 Food for free! This rider is the very last of the 4-mile cyclists, the "caboose", to ensure all cyclists make it back safely. This volunteer will be in communication with Volunteer Coordinator if any issues arise. 

Please be comfortable with biking for 4 miles.  Thank you!

Volunteers will sell tickets to participants' friends and family who wish to take part in the After Party. Tickets are $20 a person. WB4F participants do not need to purchase after-party tickets. Lunch and 1 beer, cider or glass of wine is included in the purchase of an after-party ticket (21 plus only with valid ID).

Adult volunteers need to check IDs and verify cyclists are 21+ before giving them their ticket for free beer. Cyclists 21+ will receive a wristband. Cyclists may not get beer tickets for other riders. Volunteers need to check IDs, put wristbands on, and mark the wristbands as people receive their complimentary beverage. 

This position also entails stationing the t-shirt table. While one volunteer checks IDs another can sell t-shirts. Thank you!

You must have room in or on the vehicle (using a bike rack) for up to 2 cyclists, plus bikes, in the event of an emergency. The Food Bank can help provide a bike rack if needed. Must have a working cell phone to contact designated Food Bank staff, other volunteers, and/or 911 as needed. Drivers may ride alone or bring a passenger to help them navigate. Some vehicles will be asked to take a Radio Operator along as well. Thank you!

Volunteers will help clean up after our 15th annual Will Bike 4 Food event. Volunteers will break down food and merch stations, pick up trash, and ensure that we are leaving the space as clean as we found it. Thank you!

Volunteers will be in charge of pinning bib numbers onto cyclists after they sign in for the ride, and assisting cyclists with parking their bikes in the bike racks when needed. When cyclists aren't in need of assistance, volunteers will cheer for participants at the start and finish line. Thank you!

Volunteers will be available to restock water stop supplies during the Will Bike 4 Food ride and will also help with other miscellaneous event needs.

Volunteers must have a vehicle to travel to water stops. This position requires frequent communication with our event coordinators. Thank you!

We're looking for volunteers who can cheer on cyclists as they cross the finish line. This is a great opportunity for people of all ages who want to be enthusiastic and show support for the riders- they really appreciate having a group there to celebrate when they return!

Volunteers will direct vehicles to the proper parking locations during our Will Bike 4 Food event, and will monitor parking to allow for maximum space efficiency. This opportunity is great for people who are comfortable giving directions and being firm with people who are not following directions. Thank you!

The Recycling Coordinator volunteer will ensure that trash and recycling are properly sorted into the correct bins, including replacing and moving bags as need. Additionally, they will help maintain a clean and eco-friendly environment.

As a Food Bank Ambassador, you'll have the unique opportunity to connect with community members and engage in conversations that spark change. Whether it's chatting with attendees about our programs and events, hosting engaging activities for families like decorating Brown Bags, or simply being a friendly presence, your role in raising awareness will be important in educating the public on the mission of the Food Bank.

We're looking for volunteers who are ready to lend a few hours of their time on weekends about once a month (and rarely some weekdays in the evening) to represent the Food Bank by tabling at various events in Western Massachusetts, including favorites like the Asparagus Days in Hadley, the Chicopee Spooktacular Halloween event, and area farmers markets.
